The Jacobson Institute at Grand View University announced a partnership with the technology training company SkillStorm to fit regional workers for available positions in growing industry. SkillStorm has similar programs at southern schools.
The Jacobson Institute at Grand View University (GVU) in Iowa is hoping to transform the Midwest’s reputation from flyover country to “Silicon Prairie.”
Last Thursday, the career development center announced its partnership with SkillStorm to offer AWS, Salesforce, CompTIA, Appian, and Pega certification training courses. Jacobson Institute Executive Director Lynn Marie Burks had a conversation with Government Technology about the partnership and its initiatives, which include strengthening Iowa's tech talent to fill in-demand positions as the state's tech sector is growing at a rapid pace.
“It’s learning at different inflection points,” said Burks. “But all of [the courses] are clear pathways to in-demand jobs. Employers needed these people yesterday.”
