Mount St. Mary’s University today announced a training partnership designed to close talent gaps in the region’s fast-growing tech industry. The initiative, delivered through the university’s Center for Lifelong Learning and developed in collaboration with the tech talent accelerator SkillStorm, will expand access to instructor-led courses that result in credentials from major tech employers including Salesforce, CompTIA and Pega.
The Washington DC - Maryland - Virginia (DMV) region is a flourishing tech hub, flush with jobs in cybersecurity, IT, software engineering, and healthcare technology. According to Cushman & Wakefield’s “Global Tech Cities” report, the DC Metro region boasts the third highest density of tech talent in the US, and the talent pool is only expected to grow. On top of a robust start-up culture, many major tech companies are headquartered in the DMV, including Amazon Web Services, Appian, Oracle, and Microsoft, all of which introduce even more career opportunities in tech that attract talent to the region.
The certification courses supplied by SkillStorm are designed for students and professionals at any stage of their educational or career journey and enable students to attend when convenient while providing access to one-on-one training from industry-certified instructors.
