We recently spoke with Tech Force by Design technical consultant, now manager at PwC, Muli Han, about his experience at SkillStorm and how it helped him to develop his skills to become the leader he is today.
Q: What was training with SkillStorm like?
A: The training was very well structured and tailored to the client’s [PwC] needs. All the instructors were very kind and willing to help regardless of which class you’re in. More importantly, it taught me how to build the network, resumes, and how to perform in job interviews.
Q: What certifications did you acquire through SkillStorm?
A: I acquired ITIL Foundation V4, ServiceNow Certified System Administrator, and ServiceNow Certified Application Developer.
Q: What was your experience like with the client?
A: I had a very positive experience with PwC. The team was full of kind, supportive, and professional people. The leadership was extremely knowledgeable and approachable. One of my leaders was even a two-star general in the National Guard. I never had a chance to work with a general even when I was in the military. And he was so cool!
Q: What type of work did you do?
A: My main responsibility was to design, develop, and maintain process automations in ServiceNow. Over the years, I learned more skills and earned more reputation from the work I did. My job then evolved to include consulting, code review, and training internally.
Q: How did your military background help you through this experience?
A: Self-motivation, self-discipline, integrity, responsibility, being respectful, paying attention to details, and accountability, all these qualities that are valuable in the military are even more valuable in the civilian professional fields. My military experience helped me in many ways go through challenging tasks, find solutions for difficult situations, and always deliver beyond expectations.
Q: Where is your career path taking you next?
A: I accepted a manager position PwC offered and I will continue working for PwC as a permanent employee.
