5 Reasons Why You Should Get an AWS Certification This Year

Share:

As technology continues to rapidly advance, the demand for people with specific skills shifts accordingly. This means it’s vital for people who are looking to keep pace with the velocity of technology advancement to deliberately choose the right skills to sharpen ensuring they have a strong platform from which they can accelerate their career opportunities.

If you are looking to take your skills to the next level, an Amazon Web Services (AWS) Certification might be the right path. Here are five reasons why.

1. AWS is the market leader and the fastest-growing public cloud service.
An Amazon subsidiary, AWS is a secure cloud services platform that offers scalable and inexpensive cloud computing services. AWS services include compute power, database storage, and many other functionalities that can help businesses grow. Among “the big 3 global Cloud providers,” AWS is #1 over Azure and Google.

Additionally, AWS leads the way in supporting today’s hottest tech trends: Artificial intelligence, data analytics, internet of things (IoT), and edge computing.

2. Cloud is the future.
There is nothing in the tech space that cannot be done on the cloud. Companies of all sizes are switching from traditional on-premise software to the cloud because it is cheaper, better, and faster. The demand curve for Cloud Computing continues to thrive and grow.

On top of that, COVID-19 has forced CIOs to accelerate digital transformation, moving to the cloud to support remote work and maintain business continuity. Even the public sector is investing in the cloud, according to IDC cloud spending has passed traditional IT infrastructure for the first time in 2020.

3. Demand for AWS certified talent is growing.
The worldwide Cloud market grew 33% in Q3 of 2020, with a total spend of $36.5 billion with AWS leading that market. As cloud computing grows at such a large scale, the demand for certified AWS tech talent has increased too.

According to LinkedIn, Cloud Computing is ranked #2 In-Demand Skills. More than 80,000 AWS jobs were posted on LinkedIn in 2020. There is a significant gap between the massive number of jobs available and the few qualified, AWS certified candidates available to fill them.

4. AWS Certification means better jobs and higher paychecks.
On top of being high in demand, an AWS certification also means better career opportunities. Among present IT certifications, AWS certifications rank top on the list of the best payable certifications.

The newest Global Knowledge survey showed that an AWS certification increased the average certified respondents’ salaries by as much as 25.9 percent. Some popular roles among AWS certified talent include Cloud Application Architect, DevOps Architect, or Cloud Infrastructure Architect. The salaries vary in different areas, depending on the type of certification that you have, but they range between $130,000 and $150,000 per year.

5. Gaining an AWS certification is an achievable goal.
Getting AWS certified is not an impossible task. The only requirement to adding an AWS certification to your resume is passing the certification exam. And since AWS certifications have been around in some form since 2013, many resources exist to help master the material needed.

A great example are the AWS Certification courses offered in partnership with University Partners like Jacksonville University. SkillStorm’s unique approach prepares students to pass their certification exam the first time by providing instructor led training, regular check-ins, and practice quizzes, tests and final exam – all on the schedule of the student.

As explained by SkillStorm’s AWS Trainer, Marc Marti, “Students gain access to material and videos just like other courses, but they also gain the ability to directly interact with an AWS professional who will answer questions and guide them through the material. One of the drawbacks of the self-paced learning options available on the internet is that nobody is keeping you engaged or challenging you but, in our courses, we will be doing that.”

Overall, AWS hits all the marks for someone looking to accelerate their tech career. So, what are you waiting for? Email itcert@skillstorm.com and an advisor will get in contact with you to get started!
